Technical Data

The Wall-X cladding system is available in a variety of thicknesses to suit particular insulation and strength requirements.

The EPS system is an insulated walling consisting of EPS panels screeded reinforced render with a flexible acrylic finish. The system can be installed over standard timber and steel stud walls, providing continuous insulation with a genuinely seamless rendered finish in a comprehensive range of fashionable colour and textures.

The EPS panels are also suitable for use over concrete or masonry walls where they provide an insulating barrier, allowing the thermal mass of the masonry to help moderate indoor temperatures.

The downloadable material has been supplied in the effort to assist in the Installation and application of Wall-X EPS Cladding System. It is imperative that the Manuals are used as a guide to the correct installation of the system.

The downloadable information supplied below includes the following:

Installation Manual

The information in the Installation Manual is compiled for use by design/construction professionals and any end users of the System to assist in developing project specifications and to provide guidance on the correct installation of the system.

The EPS System consists of specified EPS panels, polymer modified cement render, reinforcing mesh, flexible acrylic texture coating and a topcoat. The system forms a barrier wall which is intended to resist the ingress of water from the exterior surface of the building.

NOTE: The correct detailing and integration with all other components of the building by a qualified building designer is essential. All details and flashings must prevent moisture build up behind the wall and direct water.

Installation Process

Important Information - When Priming and Sealing around door and window openings, care must be taken to achieve a watertight seal. Only use recommended sealants. Please consult a Wall-X Technical Advisor to confirm current fixing details or to seek advice regarding the installation process.

Wall-X Panels are extremely light and easy to handle. They are quickly installed using specially designed screws and washers.

Polymer modified render is applied by machine or hand trowel. Plastering machines greatly improve speed and efficiency.

The freshly applied render is screeded with an aluminium screed or “Darby” which achieves a straight wall ready for the reinforcement mesh.

The reinforcement mesh is pressed into the surface of the wet render and trowelled in using a stainless steel trowel.

It is important that the mesh be installed just beneath the surface of the render. The mesh must not be installed to the board, and then rendered over.

An acrylic based texture coating is applied to the rendered surface and must have a minimum dry thickness of 1mm.

An approved paint in the selected colour is applied by brush, roller or suitable spray equipment.

The paint provides an added resistance to the ingress of water as well as increased resistance to dirt and mould.

Please note - This is provided as a Summary of the process of installation of the Wall-X EPS cladding System however it is recommended that the Installation Guide be downloaded and printed for detailed instructions and used as your on-site handbook.
